This catalogue commemorates the exhibition Force of the Fifties: Selections from the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, which presented the work of such abstract expressionists as Mark Rothko, Franz Kline, Philip Guston, and Joan Mitchell, with a view to relating their innovations to the art of today.
