A Center for the Visual Arts: The Ohio State University Competition
Peter Arnell | Ted Bickford, eds.
Details
This volume documents the design competition that produced the Wexner Center building. Five teams (pairing nationally known and regional architecture firms) submitted designs for a visual arts center at Ohio State, which eventually became the Wexner Center for the Arts. Participating architects included Michael Graves and Cesar Pelli & Associates, along with Peter Eisenman, then a principal with Eisenman/Robertson, Architects.
The book covers the entries of all five teams, focusing on the winning submission by Trott & Bean Architects and Eisenman/Robertson, Architects. Also included are essays addressing the background and preliminary plans for the arts center, as well as the architectural and landscape design history of the campus.
